CHUANGROGN Piping in Dhaka DWASA Project
Project Background
Development of urban infrastructure in Bangladesh has not kept pace with rapid urbanization. The provision of drinking water in Bangladesh’s capital city Dhaka has been particularly challenging.
Dhaka Water Supply Network Improvement Project (DWSNIP) aims to improve provision of sustainable, reliable, and climate-resilient water supply in Dhaka city. It will enhance the distribution network efficiency gains achieved under two previous Asian Development Bank (ADB) financed projects to Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) for improving service delivery and capacity building.
Construction works
Civil works in the sub project mainly include laying of water supply pipelines from the diameters ranging from 75 mm to 400 mm.
The HDPE pipes have superior durability, longevity, and stress crack resistance and are near-impervious to most chemical and biological fouling. The pipe's characteristics meant requiring far less maintenance than other piping materials and ensuring high flow capacity throughout its service life.
The ChuangRong system solution included the pipes, electrofusion couplers, electrofusion machines, engineering support, special installation tooling, and training.
These works will include linear excavation for laying pipes along the roads, placing pipes in the trench, jointing, hydro-testing and refilling with the excavated soil. Dholaikhal Main Road, Begum Gonj Lane Main Road,Doyagong Main Road, Kaptan Bazar To Gulistan Main Road, Wari Main Road, Bahadur shahpark road, Gendaria new road, Shahid Faruk Road etc. are the main roads (width > 4m) in the subproject area. The other important internal roads (width 2-4 m).
